GAMSLETT FISHERMAN’S FARM, SVENSBY IN LYNGEN

Get an insight into the fisherman-farmer culture that was prevalent in Northern Troms for several hundred years. See the exhibition that tells about the life and people who lived here.

MARKEDSPLASSEN, SKIBOTN IN STORFJORD

  • July 4–August 11: Open exhibition and café, Wed–Sun 11 AM–5 PM
  • July 6: “Electric Lies: Broken Ground” with Kompani Ulv & Ugle
  • August 3: Craft and flea market

Markedsplassen in Skibotn tells the story of the traditional market mentioned in written sources as early as 1571. From July 10, the exhibition “Våre falne” will be on display. It is about the 66 people from Northern Troms who lost their lives during World War II .

HOLMENES, BIRTAVARRE IN KÅFJORD

  • July: Open exhibition and café, Thurs–Sun 11 AM–5 PM

Holmenes Sea Sami Farm shows the life on a typical sea Sami farm from 1850 until the 1930s. This summer, the museum is building a traditional boathouse with log and stave construction, which will later be moved to Gamslett in Lyngen. You are welcome to visit and look at the work in progress.

MAURSUND FARM, KÅGEN IN SKJERVØY

  • July: Open exhibition and café, Thurs–Sun 11 AM–5 PM
  • August: Open café on Saturdays 11 AM–5 PM
  • August 16–18: Arts and craft days

The main house at Maursund tells of a heyday of trade and shipping. Here you get an insight into the local trade history and the people who lived on the farm.

SOKKELVIKHUSET, SØRKJOSEN IN NORDREISA

  • July 1–4: Sales exhibit and painting lessons by S. Lindgård, 11 AM–4 PM
  • July 20–29: Sales exhibit of art and crafts by Tom West and Anne Karin Rosengren

Sokkelvikhuset was built around 1850. In the late 1980s, it was moved to Sørkjosen, next to the Kronebutikken. It is used as an exhibition venue in the summer, in collaboration with Reisa skinnprodukter.

HALTI, STORSLETT IN NORDREISA

  • July: Open exhibition Mon–Fri 10 AM–4 PM, and Saturdays 10 AM–2 PM
  • September 1: Cultural Heritage Day (Ovi Raishiin)
  • September 5–8: Kyläpeli (Tørfoss)

The exhibition “Møter – Encounters – Deaivvadit – Kohtaamissii” takes you on a journey from coast to highland through the history of Northern Troms. The exhibition “Gauge & needle” tells about the fisheries that have always been essential for survival in Northern Troms.

FLERBRUKSHUSET, BURFJORD IN KVÆNANGEN

  • July 4–August 4: Open exhibition every day 10 AM–5 PM

See the exhibition “Bear tracks”. The exhibition addresses topics about the bear in our region – bear in rock art, Sami bear culture, and bear hunting.
