Flerbrukshuset i Burfjord

flerbrukshuset-topp

Nord-Troms museum use part of the Flerbrukshuset building in Burfjord. The building is found in Burfjord, just off the E6 in Kvænangen municipality.

Here we have offices, an exhibit and special rooms for treating objects before they are put in the museums main climate controlled object storage, which is also found here. Here most of our collections, that are not on display, are kept.  The museum has opening hours in the summer season together with the local tourist information.

The permanent exhibit shown in Flerbrukshuset is “Stories from the war.” This tells the stories of people of Kvænangen during the 2nd world war, the forced evacuation and loss of homes to German fires and the return after the war was over.

Climate controlled storage.

Our climate controlled storage is a special type of storage room or series of rooms where we house our collections for long term storage. The rooms are specially built with regards to controlling temperature, air humidity and light. The specifications for the rooms are in place to be able to store and preserve the objects as long as possible under the best possible conditions.
