OPHEIM
Opheim farm, also known as Opdal is found at Elsnes in Storfjord municipality.
The farm does not have regular opening hours. It is used for school groups visits and is otherwise opened for events and is opened by request.
Hans Johan Hansen (1885 – 1976) built the main house ca 1915. He was married to Olufine Beck. (1885 -1966).
In addition to the main house, there is a storeroom, a workshop, outhouse, boat house and a summer barn.
The house is a traditional two-room cottage with a living room, kitchen, hallway and two loftrooms. The interior is from the first half of the 20th century.
The collection at Opheim shows a home where hand crafts, frugality, and eagerness to create was highly prized.
The will and ability to repurpose and reuse shown at the farm is impressive to most visitors.
